The Knights were one of the original teams in the . They were coached by Mouse Davis, they were a high-scoring team that utilized the run-and-shoot offense made famous by the coach when he was with the of the original USFL. After losing their first three games, the team rallied to make the playoffs in their first season. Despite a better record the following year, the team came up just short of the postseason. When the league shut down to reorganize, the Knights were not included in the 1995 reboot, which was made up of only European teams.
